Preschool Curriculum Overview

At The Good Life Preschool, our curriculum is guided by our core beliefs and designed to support the whole child while building a strong foundation for kindergarten. We blend Starfall’s research-based curriculum with intentional Montessori-inspired independent learning, offering a balance of structured instruction and hands-on exploration.

Our program places a strong emphasis on early literacy through Science of Reading–aligned instruction. Throughout weekly lessons, children develop phonemic awareness, letter recognition, early reading skills, and pre-writing abilities. Learning is developmentally appropriate and progresses throughout the year as children gain confidence and independence. Curriculum activities also support social-emotional development, math, science, fine and gross motor skills, and problem-solving.

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is intentionally woven into each day through life skills lessons using the award-winning Slumberkins curriculum and GEM (Growth Early Mindset). These lessons help children build self-awareness, empathy, resilience, communication skills, self-regulation, confidence, and positive peer relationships.

We foster a love of reading through classroom libraries that are refreshed regularly to align with weekly lessons and themes. Children’s development is supported and assessed through Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and Teaching Strategies GOLD, with ongoing communication and strong partnerships with families to support each child’s growth and success.
